BACK TO THE BASICS BY BROTHER JOHN HENRY

Over the past few months, my prayers have been seeking something that the Lord would like to give to us, His people, during these trying times. What would strengthen His people to not succumb to fear and despair?

He is very aware of the situations going on in our personal lives as well as the rest of the World and cares very much about our wellbeing.  He desires all of us to come to as much understanding and knowledge of Him as possible to be prepared for His soon coming.

The answer I received, “remind them of the basics they learned from the beginning”.

Understanding the Basics is going back to the very beginning of what a person learns as one grows, naturally as well as spiritually. Remembering the day when He set us free from the chains that had us bound. Remember the Love and Joy we felt when He became our first love.

One may ask, what do you mean by first Love? For those who are reading this lesson and do not know Jesus Christ would not understand. Briefly, when we accepted Him as our Lord and Saviour; allowed Him to be first and foremost in our lives, He became our first love.

At the beginning of this series of lessons, my focus is to start with the basics of salvation. The Love, Joy, and Peace of knowing we were given a second chance to start a new life, in a new way.

We have traveled down many paths on this new journey, a new person, a personal relationship with Him, getting to know Him in a very special way. This was the beginning of our spiritual education and moral development.

Coming into the knowledge of Jesus Christ is an education in itself. The scriptures of the four Gospels are a call to learn who He is and a call to follow Him.

Life’s journey has many paths to walk on. Some lead to the top of the mountain where we find great and exciting experiences or deep down into the valley where we find hurtful and painful experiences. We all are faced with many trials and tribulations that teach us who God is and how much we should depend upon him.

Salvation comes to each individual differently depending on where and how Jesus entered into their lives. Salvation is the same but it comes from different perspectives in each one’s life. The basics steps are similar, in that accepting Jesus into our lives is the basis of Christianity.

First, we learned that we are sinners, and to avoid the penalties of sin, we had to change our lifestyle and allow Jesus to come into our wicked hearts where He begins cleaning out our inside first before the outside can become a reflection of him.

The transformation begins differently for each and varies greatly. The influences of the people around us play a very big part of our spiritual lives.

He taught His Disciples about the Kingdom of God and the Kingdom of Heaven. All of the chosen twelve knew of God through their upbringing as children in the Jewish faith, but He wanted them to learn of a new covenant He was establishing and wanted them to be the head of what is known as the Church.

I will continue with how the transformation of our old lifestyle into a new lifestyle with Jesus begins.

Please join us for the next lesson. I pray you were able to see something in this lesson that will help you to go on for God like never before.
